Whether it’s bombing forward or spinning and tracking back, these are the fastest left backs in FIFA 22.
In modern football, owning quick defenders, and particularly full backs, has never been so important and this is reflected in FIFA 22 Career Mode where a fast backline can be the difference between a good and great team.
Over the last decade or so FIFA gameplay has rewarded pace more than any other attribute. So owning full backs that can burst up the wing and match the pace of opposing attackers is vital if you’re to perform your defensive and attacking duties in your Career Mode save.
This article focuses upon the fastest left backs (LBs and LWBs) in the game with Adryan Zonta, Alphonso Davies, and Zaidu Sanusi being amongst the best in FIFA 22.
We have ranked these pace merchants based on their pace rating and the fact their favoured position is left back or left wing back.
At the bottom of the article, you’ll find a full list of all of the fastest left backs (LB and LWB) in FIFA 22.
Alphonso Davies (96 Pace, 82 OVR)
Team: FC Bayern München
Age: 20
Pace: 96
Sprint Speed: 96
Acceleration: 96
Skill Moves: Four Stars
Best Attributes: 96 Sprint Speed, 96 Acceleration, 85 Dribbling
As well as being one of the most talented young footballers in the world, Davies also holds the mantle of being the fastest left back on FIFA 22 with his blistering 96 sprint speed and acceleration.
Bayern Munich’s Canadian wing back not only provides his side with serious pace but also possess the skillset to overpower the opposition both in attack and defence. Given his dribbling ability, it’s no surprise that Davies can operate at left midfield which is very useful for manager’s wanting versatility from their defenders.
Signing a talent such as Davies’ is not easy and his £90.7 million release clause may prove to be a stumbling block if you’re not one of the wealthiest clubs on the planet, however, the way Davies can dominate games suggests you should make a move if you possibly can.
Adryan Zonta (93 Pace, 81 OVR)
Team: RB Bragantino
Age: 29
Pace: 93
Sprint Speed: 93
Acceleration: 92
Skill Moves: Two Stars
Best Attributes: 93 Sprint Speed, 92 Acceleration, 91 Stamina
He may not be a real player outside of FIFA, but as a potential signing in Career Mode, Adryan Zonta has the pace and endurance to make him a valuable member of your defence.
The Brazilian’s 93 sprint speed makes him quicker than the vast majority of forwards and wingers in the game, but it’s his 91 stamina that makes him standout from his wingback contemporaries as he can maintain his unrivalled effort for 90 minutes across the entire season.
At 29 years of age, Adryan Zonta’s physical attributes may start to deteriorate so if you want to benefit from his searing pace and brilliant engine, it may be worth acting sooner rather than later. To get RB Bragantino to part with their star wingback you will have to shell out £36.8 million, which is a fair bit of money for a 29-year-old.
Theo Hernández (93 Pace, 84 OVR)
Team: AC Milan
Age: 23
Pace: 93
Sprint Speed: 94
Acceleration: 92
Skill Moves: Three Stars
Best Attributes: 94 Sprint Speed, 92 Acceleration, 90 Stamina
Theo Hernández is not only the brightest left back prospect in FIFA 22 with his 90 potential, but he’s also one of the fastest in the game with 94 sprint speed.
The Frenchman’s greatest qualities are arguably his pace and physicality, although his quality on the ball makes him a very well-rounded modern fullback who adds great value at both ends of the pitch whether it be for AC Milan or the French national team.
Hernández signed for Milan for a fee just shy of £20 million from Real Madrid in 2019, however, if you wish to sign him in Career Mode you’ll have to stump up an eyewatering £102.1 million to trigger his release clause. You can try and sign him for less, but realistically there’s a fair chance most clubs will be priced out of a move for one of the world’s best left backs.
Zaidu Sanusi (93 Pace, 76 OVR)
Team: FC Porto
Age: 24
Pace: 93
Sprint Speed: 93
Acceleration: 92
Skill Moves: Two Stars
Best Attributes: 93 Sprint Speed, 92 Acceleration, 91 Jumping
Nigerian left back Zaidu Sanusi has recently made a name for himself in European football for Portuguese powerhouse Porto, with his blistering speed causing all sorts of problems for opposing sides in domestic and continental competition.
Sanusi signed for Porto for only €4 million from Santa Clara in the summer of 2020, and immediately cemented himself as their first choice left back in Liga NOS and the Champions League – making 41 appearances during the 2020/21 campaign.
In FIFA 22, Sanusi is just as impressive with 93 sprint speed, 92 acceleration and high-high work rates, making him a dream to own for managers in Career Mode. The 24-year-old is yet to hit his peak in-game, so snapping him up for £27.4 million might be your best bet for securing an elite and rapid left back.
Matt Hatch (92 Pace, 55 OVR)
Team: Central Coast Mariners
Age: 20
Pace: 92
Sprint Speed: 92
Acceleration: 92
Skill Moves: Two Stars
Best Attributes: 92 Acceleration, 92 Sprint Speed, 67 Agility
He may not be the most complete left back at this stage, but Matt Hatch does have the very important skill of being a rapid defender, which stands him in good stead in FIFA 22.
His 92 sprint speed and acceleration is more than enough pace to handle the physical threats of the opposition. At only 20-years-old, he’s got the potential to greatly improve his mental and technical attributes in Career Mode.
An ideal signing if you’re managing a lower league team in your save, you can pick up the young Aussie for £484k and his wages will be extremely cheap too. Hatch is definitely an option for team’s working with a very tight budget.
Ferland Mendy (92 Pace, 83 OVR)
Team: Real Madrid
Age: 26
Pace: 92
Sprint Speed: 92
Acceleration: 91
Skill Moves: Four Stars
Best Attributes: 92 Sprint Speed, 91 Acceleration, 89 Stamina
After missing out on France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018, Ferland Mendy has cemented his place as one of France’s best defenders after a couple of highly impressive seasons at the Bernabeu.
Blessed with raw pace, and an equally outstanding gas tank, Mendy’s in-game ratings of 92 sprint speed, 91 acceleration, and 89 stamina make the Real Madrid standout one of the most overpowered and physical full backs in this year’s FIFA.
Mendy will only improve and the French international can reach a potential 86 overall, but to profit from Mendy’s services you’ll need to pay £79.5 million on top of a very steep wage commitment. Only pursue him if you can afford that kind of outlay.
Leonardo Spinazzola (92 Pace, 83 OVR)
Team: Roma
Age: 28
Pace: 92
Sprint Speed: 91
Acceleration: 94
Skill Moves: Four Stars
Best Attributes: 94 Acceleration, 91 Sprint Speed, 84 Crossing
One of the breakout stars of Euro 2020 before his untimely injury, Spinazzola has emerged as one of the world’s most effective and fastest left backs in whichever system he plays.
His wand of a left foot causes all sorts of problems for opposition defenders as illustrated by his in-game 84 crossing rating, but his 94 acceleration and 91 sprint speed is perhaps more useful for FIFA players as Spinazzola represents that rare blend of physicality and technique.
Starting Career Mode saves at Roma, Spinazzola is affordable with a release clause of £48.2 million. At 28 though, you may struggle to get more than a couple of seasons out of the Italian before he begins to decline, so he’s better suited to teams looking for a short-term left back solution.
